AEMO's 2026 ISP sets out the least-cost roadmap for the NEM, calling for nearly 120 GW of utility-scale wind and solar by 2050 and around 6,000 km of new transmission to connect renewable energy zones to demand centres.
RegulationSmart Meters for Every Customer by 2030
The national smart meter rollout is underway, with the AEMC's final rules requiring smart meters for all NEM customers by 30 November 2030. Ausgrid's rollout began in December 2025 and will reach over one million customers.
StorageBattery Storage Hits Record Highs on the NEM
